Description
An ecologically-correct resort located on the river in the fertile Macal River Valley at Macaw Bank; only eight miles from the Twin-Towns of San Ignacio and Santa Elena.
Property buildings include:
A 2 bedroom house (20' x 30' + 6' verandah) with a 20' x 20' wooden deck and a utility room downstairs.
3 cabanas with private bath. 2 more are under construction and will be completed by the owner.
A thatched palapa used as a restaurant/bar with separate kitchen and bathroom. An adjacent stone BBQ is designed in a chimney shape.
A wooden cabin with verandah which hosts the office and a gift shop.
Other buildings/structures include a storage shed; nursery with approximately 500 plants; and stables.
The resort has hot water and electricity is provided by solar with a back-up generator. Water is provided by pump from a well.
The 50 acre grounds of the resort are very nicely landscaped with many varieties of trees, shrubs and flowers and there are some magnificent large, aged trees scattered around the property. Fruit trees include mango, sour sap, banana and plantain, star fruit, avocado, orange, mammy apple and plum. Nature trails lead around the resort and down to the river, where there are some nice beaches for swimming and canoeing, etc. There is an attractive bridge which crosses a year-round creek that runs through the property. The property is completely fenced and also boasts an undeveloped Maya ruin. There are also some nice views of the Maya Mountains that surround the area.
There is much in the way of wildlife to be seen on the property, including a rare glimpse of the shy tapir, and for bird-watchers, this is a paradise of different bird breeds.
