Visnjan is set on an elevation of 244m and the average municipality elevation is between 200-300m. According to the 2001 census Visnjan has a population of 625 with a total municipal population of 2.187. Most of Visnjan's economy comes from agriculture mostly olive growing and viticulture. In addition, most of the people work on the coast and travel daily to work.
In Visnjan you can see a unique Geno-park of authentic Istrian cattle and the world well-known observatory and two kilometres away, in Nova Vas, there is a wonderful cave Baredine. In this area you can wonder around, cycle through wine trails, visit numerous wine-cellars and taste different Istrian food specialities and wine. For those interested in hunting, Visnjan and its surrounding area have a developed hunting tourism.
