About Island Prvic:
Prvic is a small island, 1,6 km southeast of Vodice, with 2,37 sq km of area. There are only 544 habitants, and the highest peak on this island is Prvic (79 m). The villages on the island are Prvic Luka and Prvic Sepurine. The main occupations of the inhabitants of this lovely island are farming, fishing, tourism and growing wines and olives. The island is separated from the mainland by a narrow channel and it consists of two ridges, with valleys in between.
Prvic was populated in the early Middle Ages and its name, probably derives from Prvica or Prvina which is a name for the God of spring of the first Croats. It was more intensively populated in the 15th century when many refugees from the mainland fled from the Turkish invasions.
