Windsor Park
Windsor Park
The Windsor Park subdivision was created in 1911, just prior to the amalgamation between Edmonton and Strathcona. Today, the subdivision of Widsor Park is one of the most prestigious and sought after areas of this city.
There are many older homes in the area, most of which have been renovated. There is also a great number of new homes in the area especially along Saskatchewan Drive.
The main focal point of the area is definetely the University of Alberta. This ever expanding facility comprises the university, the University hospital (including the new heart institute, and institute of Nanotechnology), the Cross Cancer Institute, and the jubilee auditorium
The area also has large areas of parkland along the community's northern edge alongside the river( and the recreational pathway system), and is bounded by Queen Elizabeth and Walterdale parks in the East and Hawrelak park in the West. To the west is the Mayfair Golf and Country Club, and to the east are the "festival lands" used for the various summer festivals. There are also a number of museums and historical attractions in the area.
