Brooks

Brooks became a City on September 1, 2005 with an estimated population of 13000 people. There are several things to see and do in the Brooks area. If you are an outdoors person there is camping at Kinbrook island campground which is located on Lake Newell approximately 15 km south of Brooks, it was built by the Kinsmen Club in 1944 and became a Provincial Park in 1951. There are several activities you can participate in there such as boating, fishing, hiking around the marsh trail, bird watching, picnicking or take the family for a swim and relax on the beach.

You can take a drive to Dinosaur Provincial park where you could take a guided tour around the badlands, you can  drive around the hoodoo, stay for their interpretive show with you kids, go for a picnic or go camping.

Some of the many other things to do would be going to the Lakeside leisure center where you could swim in the wave pool, swim lengths in their lane pool, take a steam or a soak in the hot tub. you could watch a Bandits game in the arena, or take in a pick up game of basketball in the gymnasium.

Some of the Industries around Brooks and the County of Newell include Oil and Gas, Farming and Agriculture, Tourism, and the Retail and Service Industry.

The County of Newell is also home to Lakeside Packers which is one of Canada's largest packing plant which employs approximately 2000 people.

I hope this gives you an idea of some of the attractions in Brooks and the County of Newell.
