Off Pembina Highway and University Crescent; the University of Manitoba was built on over 130 years of unique tradition, the University of Manitoba was founded in 1877. Manitoba's largest, most comprehensive and only research-intensive post-secondary education institution. Huge contributor to the social and economic vitality of the province. Consists of more than 60 major buildings, spanning over 676 acres including various locations throughout Winnipeg and many satellite locations. Along with great places to meet, socialize and enjoy campus life, the University of Manitoba has a beauiful park and the lush banks of the Rid River borders the Campus.
Victoria General Hospital, originally built at the corner of River and Osborne in 1911, was moved to South Winnipeg on Pembina Highway in 1971. It is a 231 bed hospital with more than 1200 staff and 350 volunteers.
Kings Park, a large park in southern Winnipeg, includes Japanese pagoda gardens, soccer field, baseball diamonds, an off leash dog park area and marshland, home of waterfowl and wildlife.
