Unionville, Ontario

Unionville (from union + ville) is a suburban community that is located 4 km west of Markham, 33 km NE of Toronto, south of Lake Simcoe and 13 km SE of Richmond Hill. Main Street which was Kennedy Road in the mid to late 20th century runs through Unionville while Kennedy bypass 300 m east. Buttonville is located in the westcentral part of Markham. The population is presently about 260,000 including the area of Dennison. Rouge River runs north of the central part of Unionville and to the southeast. The superhighway (Highway 404) is to the west, the nearest interchange with the 407 ETR is 2 km south on Kennedy. The population live in the almost in all parts of Unionville except for parts of the southcentral industrialized parts and the far north. The railway line which links Toronto and Uxbridge and once connected as far as Lindsay lies to the west and north and also has a train station. There are railroad crossings except for Highway 407

Unionville, which is part of the Town of Markham, is a wonderfull, family oriented community, on the Northern border with Toronto. It's central location has great highway access via the 404, the extension of the Don Valley Parkway from downtown Toronto to the south. East - West arteries include the 401 and 407 express ways as well as highway 7.

It has historical old world charm (Recipient of the Duke of Edinborough Award for Historial Buildings Preservation), lots of green space, excellent schools and shopping. Markham is billed as the "High Tech Capital of Ontario."

Large employers include, IBM, Hewlett Packard, Motorola, Allstate and numerous hi-tech and software development companies.

I have enjoyed living here since 1987 and am intimately familiar with it's most desirable areas in which to live, play and work.
