Elmvale Acres Neighbourhood, Ottawa

Elmvale Acres is located inside the Ottawa “greenbelt” in the south east part of the city. It is roughly bordered by Walkley Rd. to the south, an industrial park to the east of Russell Rd. on the north by the Perley Hospital area (Just north of Smyth Rd.) and finally to the west by an open green space area dividing Alta Vista and Elmvale Acres. This corridor is sometimes referred to as the Alta Vista Corridor.

Its primary “sub-neighbourhoods” are Urbandale, Hawthorne Meadows, and Sheffield Glen. Sheffield Glen is the area just east of Russell Rd. where you will find a wide assortment of affordable condominium town homes.

The neighbourhood is surrounded by major streets providing easy access to other parts of Ottawa. There’s lot’s of nearby shopping with older established malls and the recently opened “Train Yards”, just s short drive west on Industrial Avenue, anchored by Walmart.

Cultural institutions and services are also nearby such as the National Museum of Science and Technology on St. Laurent Blvd. A branch of the Ottawa Public Library is located at 1910 St. Laurent Blvd. at the corner of Smyth.

In summary, Elmvale Acres is a terrific family neighbourhood with good public transit, affordable housing prices, and close proximity to shops and services.
