Outstanding demographic growth in a family-friendly town!

Halfway between Place Ville-Marie and Mont Saint-Sauveur, Blainville is a city that has experienced unparalleled residential growth. Its development is such that it ranks first among the 50 cities having posted the highest growth rate in Canada between 1991 and 1996. Blainville has made its mark through its attractive residential developments and one-of-a-kind sports facilities, such as Le Blainvillier golf course and Blainville Equestrian Park.

In Blainville, family is not an abstract notion; it is a way of life that the city endorses wholeheartedly. In 1997, the administration adopted a policy aimed specifically at supporting families through the integration of services of this nature (parks and green spaces, a series of family-oriented programs and activities, a 23-kilometre-long bicycle path and many other features).

Blainville Equestrian Park, established in 1988, is surrounded by breathtaking flowerbeds and long-standing trees. Renowned for the uniqueness of its facilities, it is the largest site of its kind in Québec, the second largest in the country, and 14th internationally. Every summer, to the thrill of thousands of visitors, the world’s top riders come to compete for incredible prizes. The park is also used as a backdrop for major events such as the Blainville en Fête festival, which attracts thousands of spectators, as well as a number of outdoor concerts and exhibits.

While Blainville is probably best known for its remarkable residential boom, the town has also been very successful in diversifying its economy. In 1981, it opened an industrial park where 60 businesses are currently based. And at the beginning of the 1990s, in its ongoing pursuit to enhance its asset base, Blainville created a prestigious highway office park.

Located alongside the Laurentian Autoroute and near two international airports (Mirabel and Dorval), the Blainville highway office park provides high-calibre technology companies with maximum visibility. Firms from extremely diverse backgrounds (pharmaceutical, aerospace, information technology, food services, etc.) have established offices here. Thanks to this industrial vitality, Blainville has twice been awarded the title of Industrial City of the Year for the Laurentian region, in 1993 and 1995.
