Confederation Park
The development of this community began in the early 1970s, and is fashioned around Parc Canada, a 40.5-acre park comprised of Bishop Roberecki School and Confederation Park School. The northern boundary is 33rd Street West and the eastern is Confederation Drive. To the west of Confederation Park is a new neighborhood under development. Most of the street names in the community are those of prominent politicians in Canadian history, primarily prime ministers, though others including governors-general have been recognized, too. Full build-out of the neighborhood did not occur until the mid-2000s with the construction of one final street, Blakeney Crescent, honoring former Saskatchewan premier Allan Blakeney.
Confederation Park is in very close proximity to the newly developed Shaw Centre, a civic leisure facility integrated with Bethlehem Catholic High School and Tommy Douglas Collegiate. Phase I opened on January 14, 2008, and includs the Hamm Fitness Centre (shared weight/fitness room), two shared gymnasiums (located in each school), and a child-minding (preschool) room. Phase II, scheduled to open in the summer of 2009, will include an aquatic centre with a 10-lane high performance competitive pool, six-lane warm-up pool, leisure pool with water slide and water toys, spectator seating, 3 lane walking/jogging track, cafeteria, multipurpose meeting room and a corridor connecting to both schools.
Many different kinds of people call Confederation Park home, however, recently we have started to see an increase in young families and first-time home buyers moving into the area. If you can see yourself yourself at home in Confederation Park, contact me today!
