Silverwood Heights

Welcome to Silverwood Heights, one of Saskatoon’s premier north-end residential subdivisions.

This wonderful family area was primarily developed through the 1980’s making it the youngest of the major subdivisions in Saskatoon's north end. Silverwood Heights is approaching that “mature” stage, providing beautiful landscapes and large trees.  Its eastern border is defined by Whiteswan Drive, Meewasin Park and the South Saskatchewan River valley. If you enjoy a bike ride, or perhaps an evening walk, you’ll find over 20 kilometers of paved trails which run through the park, along our stunning river valley, and extending beyond downtown Saskatoon.

They say “location is everything” and Silverwood Heights is surely one of the best that Saskatoon has to offer. Warman Road provides easy access to the downtown core (approximately 5 km) and Circle Drive will take you to the far east side, or the far west in just a matter of minutes.  Those working or studying at the University of Saskatchewan can enjoy a short scenic drive to work via Whiteswan Drive and Spadina Crescent. This peaceful and relaxing drive provides spectacular views through all four seasons.

Shopping opportunities are numerous starting with “The Mall at Lawson Heights,” one of Saskatoon’s major shopping centres. Again, downtown Saskatoon is just a quick jaunt, as is Preston Crossing and Circle Drive West where you’ll find such retailers as Staples, Rona Home Centre and Home Depot. Safeway and Extra Foods are also conveniently located on the western border of the area.

Silverwood Heights also offers abundant green spaces with over 45 acres of public park area including the North and South WJL Harvey Parks. Creative playgrounds, a public paddling pool, tennis courts, soccer fields and ball diamonds are just a few of the amenities which you’ll find in these lovely parks. Other recreational amenities which are conveniently located in neighbouring Lawson Heights include the Lawson Heights Civic Centre which houses an indoor pool and a public library, and the Henk Ruys Soccer Centre.

The largest of the north end Saskatoon subdivisions, Silverwood Heights offers two public elementary schools including Silverwood Heights School and Brownell School as well as two Catholic elementary schools including St. Angela School and Sister O'Brien School which offers instruction in both English and French. There is also a public high school in the area, Marion M Graham Collegiate. Catholic high school students attend Bishop James Mahoney School located on the boundary between Silverwood Heights and Lawson Heights. All of the schools in this terrific area have excellent reputations in the education community.

The community is supported by a strong and vibrant “Silverwood Heights Community Association” which offers a number of recreational programs in the spring and fall.

My family has lived in Saskatoon's north end since 1994. As our children grew, our home needs changed but we had no desire to leave this wonderful area which now feels so much like home. We purchased again within the area.
