South of Ensenada, Highway 1 continues south to the tip of the Baja Peninsula and Los Cabos, while a smaller road turns west to hug the bay. The scenic paved road offers you a beautiful panoramic view of the Ensenada Bay, its beaches and Todos Santos Island. The southern part of the bay and the route to the point (Punta Banda) and the La Bufadora waterspout is totally different than the more tourist-oriented northern portion of the bay. With rugged terrain and less development, you find a more “untamed” part of the bay leading to La Bufadora.
La Bufadora
Punta Banda stretches along one of the longest sand beaches you’ll see and is one of the most beautiful regions in Baja California. The homes in the area are magnificent and have views of the surging Pacific or the quiet waters of Todos Santos Bay. The entire Peninsula is similar to the Bay of Monterey, and many say it reminds them of the Mediterranean coast. The bay is still a fisherman's paradise. The calm waters have made the Punta Banda area one of the most desirable areas for recreation and retirement.
The best part is, you are close to every kind of necessity you need. Just 30 miles up the road is Ensenada, which has Home Depot, Costco, Wal-Mart and many fine restaurants. It is still only a little over an hour to the border.

Estero Beach is about halfway between Ensenada and the turnoff to Punta Banda. “Estero” means estuary, and the wide beach and estuary here are wonderful for swimming and building sandcastles, as well as launching a kayak, windsurfing, or boating. If you love the water there is something for everyone here.
