Chemuyil is located between Akumal and Tulum on the Riviera Maya. It is a very clean Pueblo with proud Mayan inhabitants that mostly work either in the cities to the north and south or the all inclusive resorts along the coast. The township has shopping, great Mayan restaurants and a popular pizza hangout.

The area has many cenotes, a monkey reserve and an overpass from 307 for easy access from either direction. Across the hiway is the Sea Turtle reserve of Xcalcel and Xcalcelito beaches. This area has one of the highest concentrations of Sea Turtle nests along the coast and is a spectacular location for a day at the beach and avoiding the crowds.

Chan Chemuyil is situated just to the south and is a neighborhood of 226 homes mostly inhabited by Americans and Canadians. It started out as a low income housing project for locals. It failed and turned into a charming second home  investment for vacationers. This little neighborhood also has its own cenote.
