Superior Colorado was named after the "superior" quality of the coal mined in the area. In 1987, land was subdivided for a new development known as Rock Creek Ranch. A newer subdivision named Sagamore has also been developed to the west.

 

Approximately 2,578 single family homes and 1,756 apartments/townhomes have been built in the town. Residents enjoy 170 acres of parks and open space…6.7 miles of trails.
