Cooper City is a city in Broward County, Florida, USA. The city is named for Morris Cooper, who founded the community in 1959. The population was 27,939 at the 2000 census. According to the U.S Census estimates of 2005, the city had a population of 30,022.[1]
Brian Piccolo Park in Cooper City is the location of one of the best cricket grounds in the United States, and in 2004 played host to first-class cricket when the United States cricket team played Canada in the ICC Intercontinental Cup. The park also home to one of the few cycling tracks in South Florida. Not only that, Brian Piccolo also accommodates a first class skateboard park.
In 2006, with the annexation of the Waldrep Dairy Farm, Cooper City started construction on the first major new home construction project within the past several decades. It is expected the addition of the 530 acre property will add upwards of 4,000 new residents through 2011.
