Lakewood Ranch is a master planned community. The villages of Lakewood Ranch include Central Park, The Country Club, Country Club East, Edgewater, Greenbrook, The Lake Club, Riverwalk and Summerfield.

The community offers walking trails, parks, a dog park, inline skating rink, golf courses, an athletic center, shopping, a movie theatre and a variety of restaurants.

Since 2005, every new village in Lakewood Ranch was built "green". These homes incorporate building products and techniques that result in a healthier, more energy efficient, and environmentally responsible home. Every home is certified by the Florida Green Building Coalition's Green Home Standard.
