Many people think that when we talk about the Square we mean antebellum Glover Park, donated to the city by its first mayor. However, this attractive centerpiece is just a small part of Marietta "Square." From the vintage 1898 train depot, now The Marietta Welcome Center, the antebellum Kennesaw House, home to the Marietta History Museum, and a vintage 1880 warehouse that today is home to the Gone With The Wind Movie Museum Scarlett on the Square, Marietta Square extends north to the Root House and across town to 1909 Post Office that today houses the Marietta/Cobb County Museum of Art.

Glover Park
Marietta's Antebellum Square
Whether you call it Marietta Square, Glover Park or any one of the myriad of names that is applied to this multi-acre, downtown gem, the square is definitely at the heart of Marietta both physically and emotionally
Located in the park is a statue of famed Marietta orator, Alexander Stephens Clay, who, after practicing law in Marietta and serving in both branches of state legislature went on to a distinguished career in the
A gazebo, so prominently displayed throughout the city on logos also calls Glover Park home, as does a replica of the General whose became famous on April 12, 1862, but played a significant role in the development of Marietta both before and after that date.
Also in this area is a "liberty bell," dedicating the park to former mayor John Glover, who donated the land on which the park sits. Once home to the Cobb County Courthouse (which now sits opposite the park on the southeast corner), the park now is a place people come to enjoy one of the many yearly events, weekly concerts, or a summer evening.
On the north-end is a bandstand, where groups are scheduled to appear throughout the summer and during events, and our Christmas tree, which gets decorated each year for this favored holiday.
