Best of all is the location! Downtown Decatur is where everybody wants to live. It is filled with dozens of charming shops and over 80 restaurants, coffee houses, pubs, and eateries, and the city organizes events like an annual beach party (where they bring in tons of sand), a popular book festival, concerts and movies on the courthouse square, and an annual BBQ, Blues & Bluegrass Festival. [Events calendar.] It's a true small town experience just 15 minutes from Downtown Atlanta.
The Artisan building includes street-level retail and is home to Ted's Montana Grill. It's also just one block from Decatur's historic courthouse square, which is surrounded by many shops and restaurants. Decatur is one of the most pedestrian-friendly areas in all of Atlanta. The Decatur MARTA rail station makes for an effortless commute downtown or out to the airport. There's also a small fleet of Zip Cars around the city that can be rented on an hourly basis as needed. Decatur even has special parking spaces designated for scooters.
This location is also convenient to Decatur's excellent public library (the main library in DeKalb county) as well as several public parks including: Ebster Park, Glenn Lake Park (excellent tennis center); the Decatur Recreation Center and Scott Park (with tennis courts and a community garden); several of which include designated dog parks. Decatur is in the process of becoming the first community in metro Atlanta to deploy a city-wide wireless internet network. It also has the best web site of any city around Atlanta, with a wealth of information about this wonderful community.
