Aloha mai!

Welcome to the beautiful and historic town of Hilo.  Located on the east side of Hawai'i island, Hilo often has the reputation of being the rainy town.  But...shhh!  It's just a myth perpetuated by us Kama'aina (locals) to keep the treasures of Hilo and the rest of the east side to ourselves.  Hilo is filled with waterfalls, rivers, parks at every corner, black sand beaches, local farmers markets, canoe regattas, surfing, breathtaking views, and so much more! 

Home to the "world championship of hula", the Merrie Monarch Festival, it continues to grow and make new history every day.  From the opening of the new Imiloa Astrnomy Center and the United States Pacific Basin Agricultural Research Center, there are exciting developments in our sleepy town all the time!  Hilo is also the seat of county government (which comprises the entire island) and it is the location of the island's only accredited university.  

Hilo is the kind of place where there's room to spread out and enjoy the all the beauty this island has to offer.  It is also the kind of place where you can meet someone in the grocery store one day and run into them again at your auntie's party the next day.  So, if you are looking for the kind of town that offers that hometown feel topped with the awesome beauty and culture of our island lifestyle, then book those tickets!  We'll be here to show you around!
