If you’re looking for a classic Chicago community that’s close to downtown, but not too expensive, Ravenswood is the place to be!  Situated on Chicago’s north side, Ravenswood is home to parks, gardens, and magnificent views of the Chicago River!

Getting downtown is quite easy with the CTA Brown Line running through Ravenswood, at the Francisco, Rockwell, Western, Montrose, and Damen Stations.  The Metra Union Pacific North Line also provides an easy means of transportation for getting around the city of Chicago.  If travelling by car, Ravenswood is just a short distance away from I-90 and I-94.

The 40-acre Welles Park, located on the south side of Ravenswood, is home to one of the biggest gardens in Chicago. Other parks include Winnemac Park and West River Park.

Each year Ravenswood hosts such events as the Garden Walk and the Ravenswood Arts and Industry Walk.

Adding to the stylishness of the Ravenswood neighborhood is a wealth of updated condominiums and restored Victorian, American Four-Square, and Queen Anne single-family homes.  The neighborhood has seen a jump in real estate value in recent years, with an average home value in excess of $500,000.

Ravenswood can be broken up into three smaller communities: Ravenswood Gardens, east of the Chicago River North Branch, between Leland and Sunnyside Avenues, featuring numerous vintage brick bungalows many two and three-flats.  Ravenswood Manor, on the west side of the river, and east of Sacramento Avenue, between Leland and Sunnyside Avenues, also features classic restored single-family homes.

East Ravenswood, a separate community between Ravenswood and Ashland Avenues, west to east, and Lawrence and Montrose Avenues, north to south, offers many late 19^th and early 20^th century grand residences, many on extra-deep lots.  The large, historic Abbott Mansion, built by the founder of Abbott Laboratories, sits on the corner of Hermitage and Wilson Avenues.
