From Devon Avenue to the South, to the most North point in the city of Chicago, Rogers Park is one of the most economically and culturally diverse neighborhoods in the USA. Rogers Park hosts over 80 languages to be spoken by it's 63,000 inhabitants. Rogers Park is an international gateway community to the United States.
Loyola University is the community's biggest employer, on the South East corner of Rogers Park, Loyola brings with it students, faculty and staff from many parts of the city, country and world to add even more to the mix.
Rogers Park is particular to the other lakefront neighborhoods because it actually has many beach access points to Lake Michigan, without having to cross bridges, large parks or Lake Shore Drive. A long established lakefront preservation act prohibits high rises in the areas near the lake, giving the areas close to the lake a neighborhood feel which blends right onto the beaches and lake.

Rapid transit is accessible through 4 Chicago Transit Red Line Stops, Loyola, Morse, Jarvis and Howard, all close to the Lakefront. Metra train access is also available in Rogers Park through the Morse stop, just West of Clark Street. Various Chicago Transit buses are also available, noteworthy is the 147 Express bus to Michigan Avenue through Lake Shore Drive. Access to Lake Shore Drive going South to downtown through Sheridan Road and the 94 expressway through the Touhy exit, then East towards the Lake.

Eating and dining establishments can be found in the main corridors, Sheridan, Devon, Morse, Jarvis, Howard and Clark. Several live performance theaters are sprinkled throughout the area, mostly around the Glenwood Arts District, which runs along the CTA Red Line. There is also a movie theater on Sheridan by Columbia, next to the Starbucks. A short distance away are downtown Evanston to the North, Andersonville to the South and Lincolnwood to the West which have more restaurants and entertainment options as well.

Architecturally the area is well known for it's vintage buildings. Most interesting in the vintage category are some great single family homes, scattered throughout, including a Frank Lloyd Wright on Sheridan Road. There are also some very spacious single floor layouts, usually in what are called jumbo three flats, which give single family homes a run for their money, space-wise. These single floor vintage units go up to and over 3,000 square feet, all in one floor, many additionally enjoying all four exposures to complete the single family home feel. Many of these are now condominiums but some are still single owner buildings. Additionally there are many courtyard and half courtyard style buildings, usually with many different layouts from studios to 2 bedrooms with dens, recently many have gone the condo conversion route. There are still many rental buildings of these sort available as well. Mixed in with the vintage there are many 4+1 style buildings from the 1960's and 1970's, 4 floors of living with 1 floor of parking and various recent new construction.
