The community of Bayside is situated in Northeast Queens County, New York City. Bayside runs from Little Neck Bay and Long Island Sound on the north and ends at Union Turnpike as its southern boundary. Its western boundary line is Francis Lewis Blvd. and eastern border runs alongside the Cross Island Parkway.
The Bayside station of the Long Island Railroad is part of the Port Washington railroad line and travel from this station to Penn Station in Manhattan takes less than 30 minutes. Living in Bayside is the best of all worlds. Being in a upscale, quiet residential suburban neighborhood while very close to the entetrainment/financial capital of the world, Manhattan, New York City.
Bayside is a large community with great public schools. School District 26 has been recognized for years as the highest performing public school district in all of New York City. The northern portion of Bayside is part of School District 25 regularly rated as the second highest in New York City. Bayside has three great high schools to seve the youth of its community. Bayside High School, Francis Lewis High School and Benjamin N. Cardozo High School are all considered to be outstanding schools of academic excellence.
Bayside has a very fine public golf course located along Little Neck Bay and the Long Island Sound called Clearview Park Golf Course. The Bayside Marina is found just north of Northern Blvd. with access off the Cross Island Parkway. Two very lovely parks are also within the community of Bayside -- Alley Pond is found just south of 73rd Avenue and east of Springfield Blvd. Crocheron Park is north of 35 Avenue and east of Bell Blvd. Recently, the federal government turned over historic Fort Totten to New York City for use as a public park. The Fort Totten was built during the Civil War to protect the entrance into New York harbor from Confederate naval forces and was an active military base throughout the 20th Century. Currently, local Bayside and Queens residents can walk its historical gun battery and enjoy great views of Little Neck Bay and Long Island Sound.
There are many co-operative apartment complexes and condos throughout Bayside alongside well maintained one and two family homes.
