Welcome to Bedford Hills, NY

Historic Bedford Hills is located in the heart of Northern Westchester County in New York State. This beautiful suburban hamlet is located 45 minutes north of New York City.
History: Bedford Hills is one of the three hamlets that make up the Town of Bedford. The other two hamlets of the Town of Bedford are, Bedford Village (the original 1680 settlement) and Katonah (named after Chief Katonah who sold the original area to the settlers). On November 7, 1848, the Post Office was opened.
Once known as Bedford Station when the railroad was built in 1847, Bedford Hills extends from the railroad station to the farms and estates along Harris Rd and Bedford Center roads, and south along the busy 117 business corridor toward Mt. Kisco.
Business: The Bedford Businessmans Association services the areas of Bedford Village & Bedford Hills.
As the economy grew, so did the population of the area around Bedford Station. Businesses began to open, catering to local residents, as well as wealthy New York City residents who began building substantial summer homes in the Bedford area. The arrival of major highways in the mid 1900's such as the Saw Mill Parkway, along with later construction of Interstate highway 684 in the late 1960's, made it easier for people to quickly travel back and forth between New York City and Bedford Hills. Route 117 through Bedford Hills has become an active, thriving commercial strip.
Government: The Town of Bedford is comprised of three distinct hamlets known as : Bedford Village, Bedford Hills and Katonah. There is one government for the town overseen by the Town Supervisor , the same zoning laws & town departments, one police force and a separate park with pool and day camp in each hamlet all under the auspices of the Town of Bedford Recreation Department.
Post Office: Each hamlet though has its own Post Office and zip code.
Schools: Bedford Village and Bedford Hills are within the Bedford Central School District but Katonah is within the Katonah-Lewisboro School District causing a variation in taxes between the areas.
Transportation-Commuting. The Metro North Train line has stops in both Bedford Hills and Katonah and the Town of Bedford has exits off the Saw Mills Parkway in Bedford Hills and Katonah and Interstate 684 in Bedford Village and Katonah making it an easy commute. The Westchester Bee Line Bus Service also has routes through Bedford Hills and KatonahSee more informatation about Bedford Hills at :
