Holden Beach, North Carolina - a place to call home!

Yes, Holden Beach is known as a fishing town and the fishing is great in this area.  But Holden Beach is primarily a residential community with beautiful beaches and natural wildlife -  a wonderful place to live, vacation or invest.  Approximately 1000 people live on the Holden Beach island during the fall and winter months which have some of the most pleasant sunrises and sunsets, and the beaches are uncrowded for leisurely walks, book reading, or star gazing.  Some of the wildlife to watch are the sand crabs along the beach, nesting sea turtles in the summer, schools of fish off shore, Pelicans flying overhead or diving into the ocean - and Egrets walking in the quiet marsh areas. 

Our unique "south-facing" island with approximately 9 miles of sand beach oceanfront is one reason people come from all over the world to visit or live.  There aren't any hi-rise condo/motels to block the beautiful scenery.  Most of the homes, duplexes or condominiums are 2 or 3 stories high.  Our commercial district in and around our town (island and mainland) is very small which is actually an attraction that keeps many coming back again and again -- to relax in a family atmosphere without all the "commercial glitz" and traffic jams seen elsewhere.
