Hello and thank you for your interest in Sunset Beach, North Carolina. This beautiful island is located at the sourthernmost tip of the state, with 3 miles of coastline. Of the three barrier islands that make up the South Brunswick Islands, Sunset Beach is the smallest and quietest. If you enjoy fishing, we have a very nice pier on the island.
Our beach is wide, with undisturbed sand dunes. While sitting on the white sandy beach enjoy looking at the ocean in front of you and only sand dunes behind you - not houses. We have left the grasses and shrubs and trees between the oceanfront houses and beach to allow a natural habitat for wildlife which includes Loggerhead Sea Turtles that come each year to nest. Just a few years ago, over 1200 hatchlings made their way across the sand to the ocean. My family had the opportunity to experience the hatching of a turtle nest.
The town of Sunset Beach also incorporates a large mainland area with several golf course communities, restaurants, shopping, amusements, a planetarium, and other activities. We have several new communities being constructed, some along the Intracoastal Waterway. Our current pontoon swing bridge will be replaced with a hi-rise bridge and construction has already begun, completion within a few years.Whether you are looking for your beach cottage or exquisite home on the island for investment, vacationing, or retirement; we have a unique variety in a tropical paradise.
