Marvin incorporated on July 1, 1994 primarily to control its own destiny. Our current tax rate is $.0517 per $100 valuation, which is in addition to the Union County rate of $.595 per $100 valuation (this includes the special school tax of .07). We are currently contracting with the Union County Sheriff's Department to provide additional police protection to the Marvin residents.
Marvin’s population is (new information) 2,257 as certified by NC Office of State Planning as of September 2005 and covers approximately 3,136 acres. (These figures do not include our recent annexations of parcels within Beechwood Subdivision.)
Our five-member Town Council meets on the second Tuesday of each month at 7:30 P.M. and our Planning Board meets on the fourth Tuesday of each month at 7:00 P.M. Meetings are held at Marvin Elementary School on Marvin School Road unless otherwise posted.
Important information, including agendas, minutes and public notices are posted on www.marvinnc.org and on the town bulletin board located at the Town Hall (10004 New Town Rd. next to Banks Presbyterian Church near the intersection of Waxhaw-Marvin Road).
