Herriman Utah.

Originally named for Thomas Butterfield in 1849, (the river, and canyon still bear his name) the town was renamed Herriman after Henry Herriman, one of the 3 original settlers in 1858.

Bordered by Riverton on the east, South Jordan to the north, Herriman is perfectly located at the southeast corner of the Salt Lake County.  Long thought of as a rural bedroom community of Salt Lake, Herriman Utah is one of the most vibrant and dynamic neighborhoods along the Wasatch Front.

This 23.6 square mile area offers a wide range of lifestyle choices for the Utah home buying family. Potential homes range from a choice of horse property to Condominium/Townhouse living. Prices are just as varied, as many of the new home developments are desinged with the first time home buyer in mind others are building houses worth $1 million dollars.

The population of Herriman has been on a steady incline.  Starting with the 2000 census population of 1523 that jumped over the next 3 years to 5632 and then exploding during the next 4 years so that the estimated population of Herriman now exceeds 16500.

Most of the development has taken place in Rosecrest, a 2200 acre master-planned community that began about 8 years ago and has been bringing to market  3 to 400 houses per year over that time.

Shopping Centers, retail stores, service and proffessional office development has moved in to support the residential growth and provides the citizens a very compact , homogenous community.
