FAIRFAX STATION

Fairfax Station is a wonderful neighborhood of some 650 homes.  Fairfax Station is accessable from Ox Road (Route 123) via either Clara Barton Drive or Robert Carter Road.

Fairfax Station's name comes from the establishment of a railroad station to serve the Town of Fairfax (now the City o Fairfax) between Alexandria, VA and Orange County, in the hunt country south of Culpepper and Warranton.  The station was completed in the mdi-1850's and later, during the Civil War was the trasportation tool and target of both confederate andf union troops.  While Fairfax Station underwent hardships during the civil war, the Station was restored in the mid-1970's and is now the home to the Fairfax Station Railroad Museum.  The museum is host to numerous historical and community events throughout the year.

The two main roads serving the Fairfax Station subdivision are Robert Carter Road and Clara Barton Drive.  Robert Carter, also known as "King" Carter for his huge land holdings throughout Virginia as well as his son Robert Carter, Jr. and grandson, Robert Carter, III (who upon Christian religious conviction, not secular law, personally freed nearly 1,000 slaves, prior to any hint of the civil war)  were considered to be among the patriarchs of the founding fathers of the United States.  Althought the legacy of the Carter dynasty is lesser known, perhaps more notable to most people is the identity of Clara Barton.  Clara Barton, born Clarissa Harlowe Barton on Christmas day 1821,  is well known for organizing and founding the American Red Cross in 1873.   From the moment she resigned her position at the U.S. Patent Office in 1860, Clara was set on a determined course of medical missions (most in live military combat conditions) that culminated in her founding of the of the National First Aid Society on 1904 almost immediately after she retired from the American Red Cross.

  • In addition to the wonderful homes and real estate in the Fairfax Station subdivision, the community is home to the Swim and Tennis Club at Farfax Station.

The southern portions of Fairfax Station are south on Ox Road, contiguous with Burke, VA to the East and Clifton, VA to the West and ending at the beautiful Fountainhead Regional Park along the banks of the Occoquan River at the Prince William County line.  Homes in southern Fairfax Station have more of an estate character and typically the homes are sited on property in excess of 5 acres.  Additionally, southern Fairfax Station is home to wonderful, newer developments including South Run and Crosspointe offering elegant homes with more modern styling and features.  Be sure to call your Fairfax Station Real Estate Agents and Realtors, Clay and Kathie Kime to find the perfect home in Fairfax Station, Virginia.
