Herron Island

Herron Island is one of the very few privately-owned islands in the Puget Sound.  The only access to the island is via the water.  The island ferry is called the "Charlie Wells" and a guest pass signed by an island member is required to board the ferry.  Thus making it a very private island!!

Herron Island is a beautiful and unique part of the Northwest.  It is approximately 1.25 miles long, and 1/2 mile across.  There is abundant wild life and in the late spring and early summer the islanders, and visitors, get to say hello to the new fawns!!   They may not eat out of your hands but the adult deer will.

Herron Island offers boat docks, beaches, swimming areas, play fields and year-round community events. 

Herron Island is approximately 45 minutes from Tacoma by road.
