Available for weddings, Wetherledge is an estate that sits high on a ledge on the southeast end of Jamestown, Rhode Island. There are commanding views of the entrance to Narragansett Bay and Newport. The main house was built as a summer cottage in 1889. It was later used as an officers club during World War II. The original Fort Wetherill is now a waterfront state park, that surrounds the property.
The wedding site is located in front of the main house. The gatehouse resembles a small castle and was built as a carriage house in the 1920's. It has been converted into a charming house, that is now available to lease by the week or longer (see rental # 638). The Gatehouse is a great place for wedding couples to stay for the week of their wedding. This gives them the opportunity to be more involved with the preparations of the celebration. It is also nice for visiting family and friends.
The wedding site and gatehouse can be leased separately. Part of the main house is available for guests during weddings.
Receptions are held between May and mid October. Only one wedding is booked per week.
If your wedding ceremony is not on the estate, a chauffeur in a vintage Jaguar Salon can be arranged. There would be a nominal charge for this. There is also an excellent musician on the premises, he can assist you with choosing the music for the day. At this time, tents or caterers are not provided however advice can be offered based on past receptions at the home.
On occasion the first and second floor of the main house is available for lease. There are 15 rooms, which include 4 bedrooms and 3 baths. The week rental for this house is $7500.00 - $9500.00 per week. The house itself is not part of the lease during weddings, but we may offer the bride and guests up to three bedrooms for their convenience. There is a nominal charge for this and there is a two night minimum. Wedding Rates:$4500 - $7000 depending on number of guests (5hr basic site lease)
